It's almost five years since I designed *got democracy?* (and wore it to that first anti-war demonstration). When I step back, one thing becomes quite clear: I am totally infatuated with the relationship between image and word. How the design, shape, color, composition affects, impacts, alters the original meaning of that word or phrase. In addition, by changing the order or the spelling or by hiding words inside the designs- I get to further subvert the meaning as I strive for some new language of dissent...I don't have to know what I'm doing. Instinct is much more reliable (and certainly, more fun ;)
